Benton Paul had an amazing show in honor of his new album on Thursday, and I was lucky enough to be asked to help by taking some photos before and during the concert. I was worried at first, because I'm not used to having no control over lighting and placing the subject, but there were a few other photographers, and that helped relieve the stress. I really had a lot of fun. The music was great, of course. He is incredibly talented. I liked lurking around the stage watching the lights and trying to anticipate just the right moment.
Here the images that I liked enough to process first.
John Allred, who opened the show.
Benton and his band backstage.
The audience before the show started.

These two audience members dancing in front of the stage before they were asked to sit down.

I had this vision in my head and it took more than a few shots to get it right.

I took this one just for me. Loved the light and the abstractness of it.

oh wow these are awesome, love the lighting! Great angles and focus!
